August 15, 2008, Newsletter Issue #269: Donīt change the default alignments in Excel

Tip of the Week

Excel sometimes gets confused as to whether a cell contains text or numbers. The default alignment for text is left and for numbers it is right - this makes it very easy to see if a cell or cells are not formatted as the correct type. Iīd suggest that wherever possible you leave the defaults as they are.
