But what happens if you drop your cells on top of existing data? If you`ve tried it, you`ll be familiar with the "Do you want to replace the contents of the destination cells?" dialog box. If you`re looking to insert a copy of the cells within the existing ones, then this week`s tip will be useful...

To copy cells in Excel using drag and drop without overwriting cells in the desired location, hold down the control and shift keys whilst dragging. The cells will be copied and inserted into their new location without deleting the existing contents of the new location.
