How can I jump back more than one step?

Save repeated Back presses in Internet Explorer

If you want to visit a site in Internet Explorer which would require a number of presses of the Back Button to get to, click on the small arrow to the left of the Back button. You will be presented with a list of sites from which you can select the relevant one.
